I went to Dahod (a tribal district in gujarat), to help my aunt with video shooting of a documentary movie that she is making on forests and people. I had gone there to do the camera work, but also got involved in the understanding of Joint Forest Management, the problems the tribal's have to face, and how the forests are still being depleted.
I had always read about Joint Forest Management in books, and in school, and always thought that it was a really nice idea for the people and for the forests. But, it all changed when i actually saw how things are
happening at the ground level. Everything didn't work very systematically, and according to the rules, there were a lot of illegal actions being taken.
I was able to see all these things through my eyes and could understand these things, but the camera couldn't capture these things.
Its what the camera lacks...
Emotions...
